Gradient corrections to the exchange-correlation free energy
We develop the first-order gradient correction to the exchange-correlation free energy of the homogeneous electron gas for use in finite-temperature density functional calculations. Based on this, we propose and implement a simple temperature-dependent extension for functionals beyond the local density approximation. These finitetemperature functionals show improvement over zero-temperature fun...

electron components have been steadily decreasing in size, while molecular materials have in recent years been found to exhibit many of the properties used in electronics. such developments are giving rise to a new field in which molecular materials are used for electronic applications. molecular electronics offers .
متن کاملNoncommutativity Corrections to the Cardy - Verlinde Formula
In this letter we compute the corrections to the Cardy-Verlinde formula of Schwarzschild black holes. These corrections stem from the space noncommuta-tivity. Because the Schwarzschild black holes are non rotating, to the first order of perturbative calculations, there is no any effect on the properties of black hole due to the noncommutativity of space.
متن کاملEfficient linear-response method circumventing the exchange-correlation kernel: theory for molecular conductance under finite bias.
An iterative approach for calculating the frequency domain linear response of molecular systems within time-dependent density-functional theory is presented. The method completely avoids computing the exchange-correlation kernel which is typically the most expensive step for large systems. In particular, virtual orbitals are not needed. This approach may be useful for treating the response of l...
متن کاملCorrelation between exchange bias and pinned interfacial spins.
Using x-ray magnetic circular dichroism, we have detected the very interfacial spins that are responsible for the horizontal loop shift in three different exchange bias sandwiches, chosen because of their potential for device applications. The "pinned" uncompensated interfacial spins constitute only a fraction of a monolayer and do not rotate in an external magnetic field since they are tightly...
